Wordle Helper

Type your guesses and tap the letters to copy the game's colors.

Type a guess, then tap each letter until its color matches the game.

gray yellow green · Gray: not in the word. Yellow: in the word, wrong spot. Green: right spot.

How to use the helper

  1. Type the guess you played (on the on-screen keyboard or your own).
  2. Tap each letter until it matches the color the game showed: gray (not in the word), yellow (in the word, wrong spot) or green (right spot).
  3. The list instantly shows the words that still fit, most common first, and suggests good next guesses.

Strategy for fewer guesses

Start with a word that has five different, common letters and a couple of vowels, like raise, store, later, trans, least. On your second guess, use letters you haven't tried yet, even if that word can't be the answer: it rules out more options. Go for the answer only when a few words are left.

Repeated letters

If a letter appears twice in your guess and one copy turns gray, the answer has only the copies marked green or yellow. The helper takes that into account.

It works for Wordle and other five-letter word games. Lexiwi isn't affiliated with Wordle or The New York Times.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best word to start Wordle?

One with five different letters, two or three vowels and common consonants like r, s, t and l. From our word list, good choices are raise, store, later, trans, least.

What does a yellow letter mean?

The letter is in the word, but in a different spot. Green means the right letter in the right spot, and gray means the letter isn't in the word (or every copy is already accounted for).

Does it work with repeated letters?

Yes. Mark each copy with the color the game gave it, and the helper keeps only words with the right number of that letter.

Is this cheating?

It's up to you. Many people use it to learn better strategies or to check a guess after the game. Without the colors you mark, it can't know the answer.
