How to make a tracing worksheet

  1. Type a name or a sentence, or use the alphabet, vowel and number shortcuts.
  2. Choose print letters (Andika, designed for beginning readers) or cursive (Playwrite US Trad, the traditional American school cursive).
  3. Pick a style: dotted, light gray to trace over, or outline, plus the size and how many times to repeat each line.
  4. Choose Letter or A4 under More options, then print: only the worksheet comes out, with guide lines.

Print or cursive?

Kids usually learn print letters first, capitals and then lowercase, and many schools add cursive in 2nd or 3rd grade. Andika keeps letter shapes simple and easy to tell apart (single-story a and g). Playwrite US Trad follows the traditional cursive taught in American schools, with joined letters.

Tips

  • Start big and get smaller little by little.
  • Use light gray to trace over and dotted to practice the strokes.
  • Repeat the child's name several times: it's the word they want to learn most.

Add your own background photo

Open More options → Background photo and choose a JPG, PNG or WebP photo up to 20 MB. Adjust its opacity, fit and position. A light background keeps the letters and numbers easy to read.

Your photo appears in the preview, printed pages and PDF, including the answer key. It is processed in your browser, never uploaded to Lexiwi and never included in shared links. Choose it again after reloading or closing the page.
